Who we are and get involved

OUR MISSION: By providing hope and positive
vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our
communities and each other. In Golden, Colorado,
we carry out this mission by supporting community
causes and organizations. We also organize our
own initiatives, including a school supply drive for
Golden elementary and middle schools; forensics
club support and an oratorical contest for Golden
high school students. Our largest program is our
community bicycle shop and Bicycle Recycle Program.
Over the past 25 years, we have fixed and donated
thousands of bikes to people who need them.

Follow Our Progress

January 2017: Thanks to the generosity of 42 donors, we’ve raised nearly $5,500 in our crowdfunding campaign, plus an additional $1,000 from a corporate donor. We’ve been able to equip and open our new shop — and we’re open for business on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The Connections students are also getting involved this semester, learning basic bike repair skills. Stop by and see us! Read More about “Follow Our Progress”
